Our Purpose

The purpose of the working group is for a globally diverse set of organizations to collaborate in order to maximize the contribution of educational technology to inclusive education for learners with disabilities in low and middle income countries and marginalized communities in those same developing countries.

OUR VISION

We will achieve this mission by:

  • Promoting and advocating for technology that is accessible, affordable, and readily available to students in diverse contexts in low and middle income countries around the world.

  • Creating a globally representative, diverse and collaborative group of organization members who will raise awareness about how educational technology can positively impact inclusive education in low and middle income countries.

  • Raising awareness to the greater public about the benefits and best practices of inclusive education in low and middle income countries.

  • Providing training opportunities for teachers in low and middle income countries on inclusive education best practices.

  • Supporting and enhancing ed tech innovation for learners with disabilities in different local contexts including rural areas in low and middle income countries where resources are scarce while sharing challenges and best practices among ourselves.

  • Providing a place/space where groups can test and evaluate ed tech solutions and see peer reviews of those solutions.

  • Advocating for a systemic approach to the procurement of appropriate ed tech in low and middle income countries.

  • Building an evidence base from around the world on how inclusive practices have improved the quality of education and positive outcomes for students with disabilities and that can guide cost-effective use of edtech including low and no tech options in low and middle income countries.

  • Accelerating the impactful use of technology for inclusive education.

  • Providing a platform for bringing diverse groups together (Tech community, universities, government, NGOs, OPDs) to identify solutions to issues.
